Luxaviation will FLYPINK for Breast Cancer Now and Movember!
Autumn is a busy time of year getting back to our routines after a long and well-deserved summer break. It is also when we shift our focus to bring awareness to cancer—something that impacts all of our lives now on a global scale.
New research claims 1 in 3 people in the US and 1 in 2 people in the UK will develop cancer during their lifetime. This autumn, we focus on breast cancer awareness, a type of cancer that impacts on average 1 in 8 women worldwide and is the second most common cancer overall. At Luxaviation, we are supporting FlyPink, a global aviation industry initiative to help research and support-based organisations around the world save lives through awareness, early detection, and donations aimed at ground-breaking cancer research. We will be wearing pink stripes and epaulettes, courtesy of FlyPink, and pink scarves from 15th October to 15th November on all of our flights as part of this initiative.
This year, FlyPink has joined forces with Movember, the leading worldwide charity focused on improving men’s health during the month of November including support for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Thanks to Movember, whose cheeky moustache-growing campaign has reached more than 5 million people worldwide and funded more than 1,200 projects improving men’s health, they aim to decrease the number of men dying prematurely by 25% over the next 12 years.
To honour this partnership, our epaulettes will also feature tiny moustaches with a pink ribbon as we support improving both women and men’s health!
Additionally, all our staff will be wearing pink on “Wear it Pink” Day this October 19th, joining thousands of people across the UK to support the country’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now. The “Wear it Pink” campaign has raised more than £31.5 million since its inception in 2002, funding world-class breast cancer research across the UK and Ireland. Donate £3 by texting PINK to 70444.
Kristina Lankester, Cabin Crew Manager, says: “Cancer affects all of us now and I’m so proud we’re making strides to bring awareness to this growing issue as a company in the UK and globally. Also, it’s quite nice to see everyone in such a bright colour and I love the little moustaches this year!”
Do your part and join us in choosing health this autumn supporting cancer research, early detection, prevention and treatment!
